What do Critical Reasoning Tests assess?
Critical Reasoning Tests are one of the most common aptitude tests that come up during a job application. They are commonly used to support the recruitment process of lawyers, accountants and bankers, but there are many roles that require critical reasoning skills. For example, Critical Reasoning skills will be apparent when:
1. Analysing Arguments: Critical reasoning enables individuals to carefully evaluate and analyse arguments, identifying logical flaws, assumptions, and biases. This skill is valuable for tasks that involve assessing the validity and strength of different viewpoints or proposals.
2. Problem Solving: Critical reasoning plays a vital role in problem-solving scenarios by helping individuals approach complex issues with a logical and systematic mindset. It aids in identifying the underlying causes, evaluating potential solutions, and making informed decisions based on sound reasoning.
3. Decision Making: Critical reasoning enhances decision-making processes by enabling individuals to weigh evidence, consider various perspectives, and critically evaluate the potential outcomes and implications of different choices. It assists in making well-reasoned and informed decisions that align with the desired objectives or goals.

How to do well in your Critical Reasoning Test
To do well in a Critical Reasoning test, it is good to implement the following tips...
1. Read the passage first: Make sure you fully understand the question prior to trying to answer the questions. This will save you time as each question set will be asking questions on the same passage.
2. Do not be afraid to choose 'Probably True', 'Cannot Tell' and 'Probably False': It can be easy to assume that just because a passage does not explicitly support a statement, that you should choose ‘False’. This may be incorrect. Instead, you should fully consider your choices.
3. Focus on the information provided only: Do not answer any question based on your own general knowledge or common sense. Be disciplined in only going on what evidence is supported or contradicted by the paragraph when selecting your answer.
Note, if you run out of time your responses will be automatically submitted based on the answers you have provided up to that point.
