Read every word
In proofreading, check each word on its own; it's easy to read what you expect to see.
Count all the errors
A line can have more than one error, so don't stop at the first.
Say it in your head
Reading a sentence slowly in your head helps you hear grammar mistakes.
Practise with real documents
Proofread letters and emails at work, and look up any spelling you're not sure of.
