What the Dual Monitoring Test measures
The Dual Monitoring Test measures the speed and accuracy of checking two separate sources of information against two rules, and shows whether either source is being neglected. Each screen has a panel of four lamps and a three-digit reading; candidates report a lamp alert, a reading alert, both or neither.
Checking two sources
Looking at both panels on every screen, not just the first.
Applying two rules
Keeping both alert rules in mind throughout the test.
Resisting near misses
Counting every lamp and comparing the whole reading when values are close to the limit.
Reporting everything
Ticking both alerts when both apply.
Why organisations choose Viewpoint ability tests
Fair and objective
Every candidate takes the same test, scored the same way, so decisions rest on evidence rather than impressions.
Candidates know what to expect
Clear instructions and example questions come before the test starts, so nobody is caught out by the format.
Reports you can act on
Clear results and score bands from Very Low to Very High, ready for shortlisting or a feedback conversation.
Fits your process
Use it to screen applicants early, to shortlist, or to add objective evidence at the final stage.
Reports that do the work for you
The report shows the candidate's score and score band (Very Low to Very High), with questions answered, accuracy and speed, and misses for each source so neglect of one source shows directly. It comes in two versions: an Assessor Report with interview questions, and a Candidate Report with no scores and practical development advice.

Check both panels every time
Get into a routine: lamps first, then the reading, then answer.
Count every lamp
Two lamps on is not enough for an alert; three is.
Compare the whole number
A reading starting with 2 or 7 isn't necessarily out of range.
Don't worry about finishing
Answer as many as you can, accurately; nobody is expected to reach the end.
