What Does the Number Path Test Assess?
Number Path is a game-based test of numerical reasoning. Candidates start from one number and must land exactly on a target number by choosing an operation (add, subtract, multiply or divide) at each step. It rewards quick, accurate mental arithmetic and planning ahead, in a format candidates enjoy.
- - Mental arithmetic: Working quickly and accurately with the four operations.
- - Planning ahead: Thinking several steps forward to find a path that lands exactly on the target.
- - Checking and correcting: Spotting a wrong turn and finding a better route on the next attempt.
Who Should Take This Test?
Number Path is designed for entry-level to graduate roles, especially where working with numbers matters:
- - Graduates
- - Apprentices and school leavers
- - Customer service and operational roles
- - Finance and administration roles

Results are reported in the same way as our other tests: an Assessor Report showing the candidate's score band (Very Low to Very High) with interview questions, and a Candidate Report with no scores, giving supportive development advice.

How to Do Well in Your Number Path Test
- Work backwards: Look at the target first and ask which operation would get you there on the last step.
- Keep it simple: Small, exact steps are safer than big jumps.
- Use your attempts: If a route fails, start again with a different first step.
- Keep moving: Questions are timed, so do not spend too long on one.
